HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Order 1973-04-09 - Declaring Election Results ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY OFFICER'S ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD On this the 9th day of April, 1973, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, convened in Special session open to the public at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present, to wit: Ralph L. Lowe, Mayor William B. Patton, Councilman Edward Zeitler, Councilman Richard Haken, Councilman Bobbie C. Henry, City Secretary and the following absent-: Councilman Milton Windler, and Councilman Benny Baker,aconstituting a quorum, and amound other prodeedings had were the following: Councilman Richard Haken introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Zeitler and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by. the following vote, AYES: 5 NOES: None The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 7th day of April, 1973 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 1315 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election recieved the following votes: FOR COUNCILMAN POSITION NO. CANDIDATE VOTES WRITE-IN VOTES 2 Ralph G. Gonzalez 577 Dee Prince 152 William P. Jones 574 4 Arthur R. Hutchings 496 William B. Patton 776 Robert Greer 1 6 Robert A. Newlander 543 Robert Greer 1 Benny R. Baker 738 Edith McGinnis 1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, STATE OF TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that William B. Patton was duly elected to Position 4 and Benny R. Baker wag duly elected to Position 6 of said City at said election, and that for Position 2, Ralph G. Gonzalez and William P. Jones will have their names placed on a ballot to be voted at a runoff'election to determine which shall hold the position of Councilman Position 2. The first two above named are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths as provided by the laws of the State of Texas. It is furthur found and determined that in accordanceT with the order of this governing body the Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting and said notice having been so posted and remaining posted for at least three days preceding the date of this meeting. - PASSED; ADOPTED AND APPROVED this the 9th day of April, 1973.
