HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Order 1971-04-08 - Declaring Election Results ORDER DECLARING RESULTS OF CITY ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF GALVESTON CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD On this the 8th day of April, 1971 , the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, convened in a Special Session at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present, to wit: Edward F. Stuart , Mayor Thomas F. Woods , Councilman James E. Mager , Councilman Ronald G. Hamil , Councilman Ralph G. Gonzalez , Councilman George F. Prude , Councilman and the following absent: NONE constituting a quorum, and among other proceedings had were the following: Councilman Hamil introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Mager and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: AYES: 5 NOES: 0 The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 3rd day of April , 1971 , for the purpose of electing three Councilmen, and it appeared from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 900 valid and legal votes; that each candidate in said election received the following votes: FOR CITY COUNCILMAN Candidate Total No. Votes Received Ralph L. Lowe 569 Ralph G. Gonzalez 447 William B. Patton 380 Ralph W. Somers 357 Thomas F. Woods 299 James B. Humphrey 241 Richard L. Haken 179 Billy C. Wynn 110 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that Ralph L. Lowe, Ralph G. Gonzalez, and William B. Patton were duly elected Councilmen of said City at said election. Order of Election April 8, 1971 Page 2 Said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said offices subject to the taking of their oath as provided by the laws of the State of Texas.
