HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Order 1965-10-11 - Declaring Election Results • ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY' S SPECIAL OFFICER ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF GALVESTON On this the 11th day of October, 1965, the City Council of the City of Friendswood, Texas, convened in special session at the regular meeting place ( City Hall ) thereof with the following members present, to-wit: Mayor Harry D. Wagner Councilman Marvin Childers Councilman William E. Davidson Councilman Arden C. Hill, Jr. City Secretary Artha Wright and with the following member absent, to-wit: Councilman Ralph L. Lowe and this constituting a quorem, and among other proceedings had were the following: Councilman Marvin Childers, introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman William E. Davidson, and the motion carrying with the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: Ayes : 3 Noes :-0 The resolution is as follows : There came on tho be considered the returns of an election held on the 2nd day of October, 1965, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named official, and it appearing from the said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 44o valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes : For Councilman Name of Candidate Total number of Votes received Betty Merchant 18 Tracy Spears 175 Harry Hatcher 198 Armond Stoneman 31 Morris Taylor 17 unregistered 1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS: That the said election was duly called; that notice of said election was held in accordance with law and that HARRY M. HATCHER was duly elected councilman and said above named party is hereby declared duly elected to said office, subject to the taking of his oath and filing bond as provided by the laws of the State of Texas.
