HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Minutes 2007-06-16 Special 06/16/2007 2718 STATE OF TEXAS )( CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD )( COUNTIES OF GALVESTON/HARRIS )( J U N E 16, 2007 )( MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD CITY COUNCIL THAT WAS HELD ON SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2007 AT 9:00 AM IN THE EXECUTIVE DINING ROOM AT VILLAGE ON THE PARK, 400 EAST PARKWOOD, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: MAYOR DAVID SMITH MAYOR PRO-TEM CHRIS PEDEN COUNCILMEMBER LAURA EWING COUNCILMEMBER JOHN LECOUR COUNCILMEMBER JIM HILL COUNCILMEMBER LESLIE REID COUNCILMEMBER ANDY RIVERA CITY MANAGER BO MCDANIEL CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE Mayor Smith called the meeting to order. 9:00 AM—COUNCIL RETREAT A discussion was held by the Mayor, Council and City Manager regarding operations and planning for the City of Friendswood. A lengthy discussion was led by Mayor Smith regarding team building opportunities, meeting schedule/work sessions, Council Rules of Procedure, and Council's future priorities. Mayor Smith left the Council Retreat at this time. CLOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Pro-Tem Peden called an Executive Session to order at 1:52 pm. Council convened into Executive Session in Accordance with the Texas Government Code, pursuant to Section 551.074— Personnel Matters Mayor Pro-Tem Peden closed the Executive Session at 2:05 pm. Council convened into open session with no action taken later in the meeting. RECONVENE INTO OPEN SESSION Mayor Smith returned to the Council Retreat at this time. The discussion continued with the Mayor, Council and City Manager regarding operations and planning for the City of Friendswood. A lengthy discussion was held with the City Manager regarding operational update, budget preview, planning opportunities and issues. Councilmember Peden left the meeting at 3:00 pm.
