CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm with the following members present: CHAIR SUSAN ASIMAKIS VICE CHAIRMAN BLAISE GUZZETTA COMMITTEE MEMBER DEREK BROWN COMMITTEE MEMBER KYLE WINNE COMMITTEE MEMBER JUDY WIGGINS COMMITTEE MEMBER PAULINE MOORE ASSITANT CITY MANAGER STEVEN RHEA ABSENT: COMMITTEE MEMBER ANDREA TRABANINO DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AUBREY HARBIN SECRETARY KRISTINA CUELLAR 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS N/A 3. MINUTES A Consider approving the minutes of the Community and Economic Development Committee Regular Meeting, held on December 7, 2022. Rhea reported that the meeting minutes were not complete and would be acted upon at the February 1, 2023 meeting. No action was taken. 4. DISCUSSION ITEMS A Discuss the Community and Economic Development Committee economic development and business retention strategy. Asimakis led discussion on who the Committee should be marketing too and what types of partners should be involved in messaging. It was determined that the Committee would invite local brokers and realtors to explain how they market the City to prospective clients and help the Committee identify ways to assist in the marketing and economic growth of the City. The Committee agreed to create a standard list of questions for businesses to provide feedback to the group on how the Committee or City can aid or guidance. Rhea a requested the members submit a list of businesses that member would like to visit once the questions are created. 5. REPORTS A Receive the Staff Business Report. Rhea reported on the November Community Development Building Report, the potential for future updates to the City's website and updating the city-wide target business list. Rhea informed the Committee of the partnerships and information sharing with the Galveston County Economic Development office and the Harris County Precinct 2 Economic Development Office. 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:29 pm.
