Ordinance 300
Install 3peca Limit Sign on El Dorado and Relocate Existing Signage
The speed limit on El Dorado is 3 5 mph, at the Friendswood city limits, the speed limit drops at the
transition of El Dorado to F•iendswood Link Road to 30 mph. There is minimal signage notifying drivers
of the change. It is recommended that staff install new speed limit signage to alert drivers of the speed
limit as well as move existing Signage to allow for greater visibility of signage.
Ordinance 300 should be amended to reflect the proposed changes outlined above and per the attached
descriptions and diagrams. If you have any questions, please let me know or contact Bria Whitmire in the
Engineering Department at 281- 996-3208.

Add 30 MPH Sign at City Limit
The speed limit along El Dorado, before getting to Friendswood is 3511/IPI. At the Fi•iendswoad
City Limits, when El Dorado becomes Friendsrood Link, it changes to 30 MPPI. There is one
sign on the right side of the road, tightly fit between a drainage channel, the city limit sign, and
the start of a school zone -when flashing. This sign is not easy to see, however needs to be
enforced. To assist in the awareness of the speed limit, the City is relocating the City Limit sign
to the extent of the City Limits, relocating the informational signage farther back behind the
regulatory signs, and would like to add an additional speed limit sign on the median, parallel to
the current one, in the same relation to the dual school zone signs. All of these actions combined
wi11 assure that drivers entering the City L.im].ts are aware of the reduced speed limit.
while the rnodifications to the existing signage do nat change their existing ordinance 3o0's, the
Engineering Depaitnlent does recommend that the ordinance 30Q be amended to install an
additional 30 MPH sign in the median on Friendswood Liilk as noted on the attached map.
