School zone traffic signage is needed to influence traffic speeds around the area. An elementary school will increase the amount of children foot traffic around the area and so a reduced speed school zone is recommended. This will provide traffic management personnel with safer operating conditions as well as encouraging vehicle operators to maintain a safe speed while near the school. Ordinance 300 should be amended to reflect the proposed changes outlined above and per the attached descriptions and diagrams. An elementary school will increase the amount of children foot traffic around the area and so a reduced speed school zone is recommended. This will provide traffic management personnel with safer operating conditions as well as encouraging vehicle operators to maintain a safe speed while in close proximity to the school.
