Subject: Ordinance 300
School Zone Traffic Signage for Cline Elementary School
The newly constructed Cline Elementary School located off West Boulevard between Friendswood lakes
Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Drive. School zone traffic signage is needed to influence traffic speeds
around the area.
An elementary school will increase the amount of children foot traffic around the area and so a reduced
speed school zone is recommended. This will provide traffic management personnel with safer operating
conditions as well as encouraging vehicle operators to maintain a safe speed while near the school.
Ordinance 300 should be amended to reflect the proposed changes outlined above and per the attached
descriptions and diagrams. If you have any questions, please let me know or contact Haliee Medwedeff in
the Engineering Department at 281-996-3402.

Re: Ordinance 300_2023.07.10
School Zone Traffic Signage for Cline Elementary School
Due to the new construction of the Cline Elementary School located off West Boulevard between
Friendswood Lakes Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Dr. School zone traffic signage has been
requested to influence traffic speeds around the area.
An elementary school will increase the amount of children foot traffic around the area and so a
reduced speed school zone is recommended. This will provide traffic management personnel with
safer operating conditions as well as encouraging vehicle operators to maintain a safe speed while
in close proximity to the school.
Ordinance 300 should be amended to reflect the designation of the appropriate school zone signage
in order to support the police department in enforcing it.
