Ordinance 300
Traffic Signage on Friendswood Lakes Blvd. from Stoney Lake to West Blvd.
The newly constructed section of Friendswood Lakes Boulevard, from Stoney Lake Dr. to West
Boulevard, will be a collector street. Collector streets are typically between 35 MPH and 55 MPH.
please install 35 MPH speed limit signage per the attached diagram.
Traffic noise from higher traffic speeds along the new roadway was considered for this designation.
Another consideration was the likelihood of heavy pedestrian traffic, which is also why safety guardrails
at the sides of the bridge crossings were moved to the curb line to protect the sidewalk and then a
pedestrian handrail will be between the sidewalk and the side of the bridge.
Ordinance 300 should be amended to reflect the proposed changes outlined above and per the attached
descriptions and diagrams. If you have any questions, please let me know or contact Bria Whitmire in the
Engineering Department at 281-996-3208.
