HomeMy WebLinkAboutZBOA Minutes 1989-01-24 Regular REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT JANUARY 24 , 1989 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD WHICH WAS HELD AT CITY HALL ON JANUARY 24 , 1989 WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: CHAIRMAN WILLIAM TAYLOR REGULAR MEMBER MARY ELLEN BELLARD REGULAR MEMBER MAURICE ESTLINBAUM REGULAR MEMBER STEVE JOHNSON ALTERNATE MEMBER HOWARD YEAGER ALTERNATE MEMBER DAVID O ' BRIEN , III ALTERNATE MEMBER ANN TALBOT ALTERNATE MEMBER DAVID LONG SIGN CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER LINDA TAYLOR CITY SECRETARY DELORIS MCKENZIE CHAIRMAN TAYLOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND APPOINTED HOWARD YEAGER AND DAVID O ' BRIEN AS REGULAR MEMBERS FOR THIS MEETING . CHAIRMAN TAYLOR CALLED FOR PUBLIC INPUT REGARDING REQUEST FROM MIKE SCHINER REPRESENTING COMMERCIAL PROPERTY ASVISORS TO SEEK VARIANCE AT LOCATION OF 607 SOUTH FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE FOR ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE . MR . SCHINER MADE HIS PRESENTATION BRIEF . HE IS REQUESTING A TEMPORARY SIGN 3-4 MONTHS FOR ADDITIONAL ADVERTISING . THE WALL SIGN HE HAS ON THE BUILDING NOW IS 32 SQUARE FEET WHICH IS ACCORDING TO ORDINANCE . IF APPROVED HE STATED HE WOULD TAKE DOWN THE 32 SQUARE FEET SIGN AND REPLACE IT WITH A 64 SQUARE FEET SIGN . DISCUSSION WITH THE BOARD FOLLOWED AT LENGTH . **HOWARD YEAGER MADE THE MOTION TO GRANT THE VARIANCE OF THE SIGN ON THE BUILDING WHICH CONFORMS TO THE SIGN ORDINANCE , IF HE WITHDRAWS THE APPLICATION ON THE SIGN REQUESTED ON THE STREET . MARY ELLEN BELLARD SECONDED THE MOTION . THE MOTION WAS UNANIMOUS . THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED FROM REGULAR MEETINGS OF NOVEMBER 15 , 1989 AND DECEMBER 20 , 1989 . ED STUART , REPRESENTING THE SIGN ORDINANCE REVIEW COMMITTEE , STATED AT THIS TIME THE BOARD HAS NOT MET SINCE NOVEMBER , 1988 AND SCHEDULING HAS BEEN DIFFICULT BECAUSE THE MEMBERS CANNOT AGREE ON A GOOD MEETING DATE FOR ALL . 1 MOTION WAS MADE AND SECONDED TO ADJOURN AT 7 : 35 PM. 26) ;4,_ CHAIRMAN WILLI TAYLOR j JA OLLETT A SI TANT TO CITY SECRET RY III I
