Regular Meeting
Zoning Board of Ajustment
January 28, 1997
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Zoning Board of Adjustment of the City
of Friendswood which was held at City Hall on January 28, 1997 at 7:00 p.m.
with the following members present constituting a quorum:
Chairman William Hal Taylor
Regular Member Gary Yokum
Regular Member David O'Brien
Regular Member Ann Talbot
Alternate Member Larry Taylor
Building Official Linda Taylor
B.O.A. Secretary Linda Thornton
Chairman Hal Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. .
Chairman Taylor appointed Larry Taylor as a Regular Member for this meeting.
A. Chairman Taylor called the public hearing to order to receive public
input regarding Mr. Dennis Bailey's request at 1213 Bob White Drive, Lot 7,
Block 2, Falcon Ridge Subdivision, Galveston County, Texas, for unattached
accessory building (detached garage) has been built 4.3' from side property
line and builder is seeking variance to allow. Friendswood City Code,
Zoning, Appendix C, Section 7.Q.3.
Discussion followed with owner Dennis Bailey explaining his request.
Mr. Robert Strauss, 1215 Bob White voiced his concerns about run off from
the garage roof, building permit process and construction debris.
Hearing no further input the Public Hearing was closed.
*Gary Yokum made a motion to approve the variance provided that gutters be
placed all around the garage with down spouts leading away from the side
lot.
Seconded by Larry Taylor.
Motion was Approved Unanimously

B. Chairman Taylor called the Public Hearing to order to receive public
input regarding Michael Cragen's request at 312 Morningside, Lot 9, Block
2, Sarah McKissick or J. R. Williams League, Galveston County, Texas, for
remodeling of a non-conforming structure inside 40' required front setback.
(Existing structure in Light Industrial Zoning District) across from
Residential Zoning District. Zoning Ordinance #84-15, Regulation Matrix
7.Q.3.
Discussion followed with Mr. Cragen explaining his request.
Hearing no further input the Public Hearing was closed.
*David O'Brien made a motion to approve the variance.
Seconded by Ann Talbot.
Motion Approved Unanimously.
*Larry Taylor made a motion to amend as a condition to grant the variance
that the existing slab in front of building be taken out and landscaping
be provided as shown on the site plan.
Seconded by Hal Taylor
Motion Granted Unanimously.
Minutes for the December 17, 1997 meeting were not approved.
Motion was made and approved to adjourn at 9:00 p.m.
