Jim Morgan, City Manager
Friendswood, Tx.
Gentlemen:
Re : Donation of Queen's Lane
Before donation of our portion of Queen 's
Lane comes to pass , we and the residents of
this subdivision must be guaranteed the
right of peaceful enjoyment of their property,
as follows :
1. The "Right Turn Only" sign must be removed
permanently. "Right Turn Only" on Sunday
mornings is acceptable to us , in the in-
terest of safety, but it is unjust to ex-
pect the residents to abide by this law
day in and day out .
2 . The residents must be guaranteed free
right of ingress and egress at all times .
We insisted on two full lanes of paving
to allow for this . A Yield sign should be
placed at the Church's entrance to Queen's
Lane as is appropriate for any side entry.
3 . The "Stop" sign at the end will probably
inhibit traffic flow on Sundays , if each
car makes a legal stop as it should, a
Yield sign would be more effective .
We must insist that the above conditions be
made a permanent part of our donation.

Mr . Jim Morgan
Friendswood City Manager
Friendswood , Texas 77546
Dear Mr. Morgan:
Approximately fifteen months ago, I donated to the
city one paved road, called Queen ' s Lane, which was
totally without cost to the city. At that time, I
regested that:
1 . A street sign be placed on the road--Queens Lane
2 . A street light be placed where the church drive
intersects Queen 's Lane.
3 . A NO PARKIBG sign be placed on the road.
To date we have none of the above! ! !
We do have a "NO Parking this side of street" sign.
Needless to say people now park on the incoming side
of the road-facing out, which is the "other" side of
the street. This is illegal , dangerous , and obstructive
to those of us who live on the road, as well as to emer-
gency vehicles. Despite the priest ' S requests not to
park at all on the road, some will still do so, as long
as the sign allows them to, illegal or not.
I am therefore requesting:
1 . A Street sign
2 . A street light.
3 . a No Parking Sign.
As a taxpayer and citizen of this community, as well as
the donor of this road , I feel the city should extend
services to Queen 's Lane as they do other city streets in
Friendswood.
Copy to Mayor and
City Council .

Attention: Father Donald Thomas
Dear Father:
The Friendswood City Council has agreed to accept
Queen' s Lane as a 500 foot long , 40 foot wide concrete
street after it is paved to city specifications . The
40 foot wide street would consist of 30 foot width from
the Glen Lunney family and a 10 foot wide strip from
the Mary Queen Church.
The Friendswood Planning C Zoning Commission would also
have to concur on a variance for this proposed street.
The urgent need to eliminate the safety hazards relating
to this project will insure expeditious cooperation from
our municipal departments .
On behalf of the City Council and the many citizens who
are involved in this safety program, I wish to express
our appreciation to you and your committee for your very
significant contributions .
Best wishes,

Subject: Paving of private road
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lunney:
It has been brought to my attention that you are
interested in paving Queens Lane, a private road. Since .
this is a private street, the City of Friendswood has no
objection to such construction. However, it should be
pointed out that the paving surface should be of sufficient
strength to withstand the travel of emergency vehicles such
as police, fire, and ambulance.
It should be understood that this private road as approved
by the Planning and Zoning Commission in the minutes of
April 12, 1973, (copy enclosed) does not meet the City standards
regarding width and construction end could not be maintained
by the City until the street meets the minimum specifications
of the City.
I trust that this is the information you desire.
