SEPTEMBER 1, 2022
THE FRIENDSWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MET IN A REGULAR
MEETING ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2022 IN THE TRAINING ROOM, LOCATED IN THE
ANIMAL CONTROL BUILDING, 3000 WEST PARKWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS,
WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:
DR. DONALD STRAN
DR. DONNA COLEMAN
CPT. DOUG LAUERSDORF
ROBERT LEE
MARGARET PICKELL
1. CALL TO ORDER

Dr. Stran called the meeting to order with a quorum present at 6:15 P.M.; all members were present with
the exception of Committee member Pickell who was absent.
2. PUBLIC COMMENT
No one signed up to speak.
3. MINUTES
A. Consider approving the minutes of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting held on
June 30, 2022.
A motion was made by Committee Member Lee and seconded by Cpt. Lauersdorf to approve the minutes
of the Animal Control Advisory Committee meeting held on June 30, 2022.
The vote was the following:
Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran,
Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee
Nays: None.
The item passed unanimously.
4. REPORTS
A. Receive and discuss updates regarding proposed amendments to the Animal Shelter Advisory
Committee to include new guidelines and board member positions.

B. Receive and discuss an update regarding Animal Shelter operations.
Committee Member Lee presented a report regarding animal shelter operations and stated that the staff
and volunteers worked on new training techniques that will help improve the care of the animals at the
shelter. The staff also continuing their on-line training on the Police One Training Program, and the
volunteers were brought up to speed on all the new forms at the shelter. ACO Supervisor Lee let the board
know about a new portfolio project for the animals at the shelter to help market the animals. All the
projects are working, and adoptions are increasing as a result to the programs.
5. NEXT MEETING.
A. Consider setting the date and time of the next Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meeting.
The Committee did not set a date and agreed to not hold another meeting until January 2023.
6. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Dr. Coleman and seconded by Cpt. Lauersdorf to adjourn the meeting. The vote
was the following:
Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran,
Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee
Nays: None.
The item passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
