DOUG LAUERSDORF ROBERT LEE MARGARET PICKELL DR. DONALD STRAN DR. DONNA COLEMAN 1. CALL TO ORDER COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMITTEE MEMBER CHAIRPERSON COMMITTEE MEMBER Dr. Stran called the meeting to order with a quorum present at 6:00 P.M.; all members were present. 2. INVOCATION None. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT No one signed up to speak. 4. REVIEW, DISCUSSION, CORRECTION AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM MARCH 24, 2022 MEETING A motion was made by Dr. Stran and seconded by Cpt. Lauersdorf to approve the minutes of the Animal Control Advisory Committee meeting held on March 24, 2022. The vote was the following: Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Margaret Pickell, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran, Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee Nays: None. The item passed unanimously. 5. REPORTS Animal Control Advisory Board Meeting Minutes June 30, 2022 Page 2 of 2 A. Receive and discuss current and future operations, plans, budgets, and goal for the City of Friendswood Animal Control Facility. Committee Member Lee presented a report regarding the operations of the City' Animal Control Facility and stated that staff and volunteers have worked together on new training techniques that will help improve animal care at the facility. Staff also continues their on-line training on the Police One Training Program and the volunteers have been brought up to speed on all the new shelter forms. Mr. Lee also stated that there is a new portfolio project in which they will be able to market the animals in the shelter through various forms of advertising. Mr. Lee stated that he commended the hard work both staff and volunteers and further noted that the changes made to shelter operations in the last quarter are working well and have resulted in an increase in animal adoptions. 6. SETTING THE NEXT MEETING DATE AND TIME. A. Discuss and take appropriate action setting the next meeting's date and time. The Committee discussed the item, and the following two dates will be considered: (1) August 25, 2022, and (2) September 1, 2022. Staff will work with the committee members to confirm quorum and will send out information once the date and time of the next meeting are confirmed. 7. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Committee Member Pickell and seconded by Dr. Coleman to adjourn the meeting at 6:30 P.M. The vote was the following: Ayes: Committee Member Dr. Donna Coleman, Committee Member Margaret Pickell, Committee Member Dr. Donald C. Stran, Committee Member Captain Doug Lauersdorf, and Committee Member Robert Lee Nays: None. The item passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M.
