HomeMy WebLinkAboutCentennial Committee Minutes 1993-03-11 Regular A Notes from Centennial Committee meeting MARCH 11 , 1993 Called to order 7 : 15 Janis presiding Present : Janis , Kitten, Joyce, Ann, Lila , Huberta , Phyllis , Carolyn Guest : Tom Manison Correction to minutes : Page 3 sentence relating to Carl Murry doing a logo substitute "submitting a proposed logo" Motion Kitten Sec . Janis Unam. in favor Report by Joyce on Book progress : She is now footing the book which will enable it to be recognized as an historical book rather than just a narrative . Title is "Friendswood-A Settlement of Friendly Folks" She is working towards having the book finished by Christmas ' 94 and it will include picture , time line fold out for each decade. She has a accurate accounting of all those that placed deposits or paid for ooks during the ' 86 campaign. Those funds and deposits will be toward this effort . She estimates another 6 to 8 months before it will be ready for publisher . Report from subcommittee to discuss progress with Carl Murry was given by Phyllis All members ( Janis , Huberta and Phyllis ) met with Carl and discussed a simplified emblem that would be less expensive for reproduction purposes than the official logo selected at the last meeting . A rough sketch of the idea presented to Carl for refinement was reviewed by the committee . The committee unam. agreed to accept this idea as the official emblem. Motion by Phyllis Second by Janis --unam. The committee also agreed to seek prices for stationary using this emblem with the following suggestions : 1 . first choice is buff (ivory) paper with emblem in gold and black 2 . second choice is white paper with emblem in red with black The committee agreed they would prefer the emblem be centered on the top of the paper with: Centennial Committee City of Friendswood 109 Willowick Friendswood, Texas 77546 (713) 482-3323 (or whatever no . Deloris wants) to be centered below the emblem. Janis agreed to prepare an article for release concerning the logo and emblem and encouraging organizations/clubs to request exclusive use of these official symbols to the committee . Suggestions for distribution included the local newspapers , City Newsletter and Chamber of Commerce stuffer . Suggestions for additions to the proposed projects list included: a calendar with historical events noted and a planting of 100 Oaks . The committee agreed that they would like to have the posters ready for sale beginning the 4th of July 1994 . A discussion was held concerning possible prices but it was decided to table that discussion until we have a firm price for the printing costs . Huberta Mora suggested that the "Womanless Wedding" listed on the possible projects list become an Anniversary Party instead . This would allow for new fun ideas and concepts . After discussion the committee agreed to delete the Womanless Wedding and add an Anniversary Party to the projects list . The next meeting will be held at the Uniplex on Thursday , April 8 at 7 : 00 . Lila will bring snacks and Ann will provide beverages . Adjourned at 8 : 50 Submitted by : Phyllis Lee
