MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THAT WAS
HELD ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1995 AT 5:30 PM AT UNIPLEX OFFICE PARK, 1414
S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS WITH THE FOLLOWING
PRESENT:

ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WERE LAURIE WHITEHEAD, JERRY SMITH AND
PATSY RAUCH.
CO-CHAIRMAN LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER.
MINUTES OF AUGUST 9, 1995 AND FINANCIAL REPORT WERE APPROVED AS
PRESENTED.
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE GRAND OPENING FOR THE NEW CITY
HALL SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 10, 1995,WITH MS. BELLARD AND MS. MORA
PROVIDING INFORMATION ON CATERING, FINGER FOODS, PUNCH, COFFEE AND
CAKE BEING CONSIDERED.
**MOTION WAS MADE BY KITTEN HAJECATE TO APPROVE THE GRAND OPENING
COMMITTEE BE AUTHORIZED TO EXPEND UP TO $5,000 FOR THE RECEPTION.
SECONDED BY JANIS LOWE. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL MARKER AT CITY HALL
WHICH WILL INCLUDE FOUR PLAQUES WITH HISTORY OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDWOOD, CENTENNIAL EVENTS AND A COPY OF THE CENTENNIAL
PAINTING WITH BENCHES AND LIGHTING. THE CENTENNIAL MARKER WILL BE
DEDICATED AT THE CITY HALL GRAND OPENING. A LENGTHY DISCUSSION WAS
HELD WITH PENNY BURKE REGARDING THE DESIGN AND THE MATERIALS TO BE
USED FOR THE MARKER WITH MS. BURKE OBTAINING COSTS.
CO-CHAIRMAN LOWE REPORTED ON THE CENTENNIAL TRAIL RIDE SCHEDULED
FOR OCTOBER 22 FROM 1:30 TO 5:30 BEGINNING IN ALVIN, WITH A STOP OVER AT
FIRE STATION TWO ON FM 528 AND ENDING AT OLD CITY PARK WITH A
BARBECUE AND A BAND.
CO-CHAIRMAN LOWE REPORTED ON THE HERITAGE GARDENERS DECORATING
CITY HALL FOR THE HERITAGE GARDENERS HOME TOUR, INTRODUCED LISA
DANNEMILLER WITH HERITAGE GARDENERS AND GIRL SCOUT ANGIE PAYNE
THAT DESIGNED THE DECORATIONS FOR THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS AND ANN
WAGONER. CO-CHAIRMAN LOWE REPORTED THE BOY SCOUTS AND GIRL SCOUT
TROOPS WIL BE HELPING AT CITY HALL AND THE TOUR WILL BE ON NOVEMBER
17 AND 18 FROM 1 TO 5 PM.
CO-CHAIRMAN LOWE ANNOUNCED THE FIG MARKER DEDICATION WILL BE HELD
ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12 AT 3 PM AT STEVENSON PARK WITH A RECEPTION
TO FOLLOW AT THE PAVILION WITH FIG COOKIES TO BE SERVED AND REPORTED
A BORDER BOX HAS BEEN PLACED AROUND THE FIG GARDEN. JOYCE BAKER
REPORTED THE GALVESTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS PAYING FOR THE FIG
HISTORICAL MARKER AND WOULD REQUEST THE CENTENNIAL COMMITEE
AUTHORIZE PAYING FOR STATE MARKERS TO BE PLACED IN THE ESPLANADE
FOR AN ESTIMATED COST OF $200.
**MOTION MADE BY HUBERTA MORA TO AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF STATE
MARKERS FOR THE HISTORICAL SITE AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $200..
SECONDED BY KITTEN HAJECATE. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
CO-CHAIRMAN LEE REPORTED THE CENTENNIAL CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS ARE
BEING SOLD AND WILL BE PLACED ON THE CITY HALL CHRISTMAS TREE.
CO-CHAIRMAN LEE REPORTED ON THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING AND THE
PARTICIPATION BY THE AREA CHURCHES.
MOTION MADE AND APPROVED FOR ADJOURNMENT AT 7:00 PM.
