MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THAT
WAS HELD ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 1995 AT 5:30 P.M. AT UNIPLEX OFFICE
PART, 1414 S. FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE, FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS, WITH THE
FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:

ADVISORY MEMBER JOYCE BAKER
ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WAS LAURIE WHITEHEAD, ED HARRIS, AND
ANN WOOD. STAFF MEMBER DELORIS WAS ALSO ABSENT.
** JANIS LOWE MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 18, 1995
AND FEBRUARY 7, L995 WITH MINOR CORRECTIONS NOTED. THE MOTION
WAS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. MARY ELLEN BELLARD WAS APPOINTED
TO TAKE THE MEETING MINUTES.
PRESENTATION OF FINANCIAL REPORT WAS MADE. JOYCE BAKER WAS
ASKED BY PHYLLIS LEE ABOUT THE ESTIMATED TAX DUE FOR HISTORY
BOOK. A CHECK WILL BE ISSUED TO JOYCE BAKER TO COVER THE TAX.
**LEO BRAUN MOVED AND JANIS SECONDED MOTION TO APPROVE THE
FINANCIAL REPORT. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
THERE WAS DISCUSSION OF THE PRESALE OF PAVERS FOR THE "WALK OF
THE CENTURY" CONNECTING THE CITY HALL TO THE GAZEBO IN
STEVENSON PARK. FLYERS WERE PREPARED FOR DISTRIBUTION OF
INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE PRESALE.
TWO BUSINESSES HAVE ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO SELL T SHIRTS ON
JULY 4TH WITH THE CENTENNIAL LOGO. THE PROPOSED DESIGNS FROM
BARRY GRAY AND CRAFTY T'S WERE DISPLAYED. IT WAS DECIDED TO
TABLE THE PROPOSAL FROM CRAFTY T'S.
**KI IT EN HAJECATE MOVED AND CHARLES KIRKLIN SECONDED TO
APPROVE THE PROPOSAL FROM BARRY GRAY. MOTION PASSED.
PHYLLIS LEE STATED A NEED FOR A PUBLICITY PERSON FOR THE PLAY,
"THE PROMISED LAND" TO BE PRESENTED AT THE JULY 4TH CELEBRATION.
JERRY SMITH SUGGESTED CHERYL BOURGIONNE FOR THE POSITION. HE
AGREED TO ASK HER. �j p U,� �✓
PHYLLIS LEE HAS REQUESTED OF THE CITY COUNCIL THAT WE BE
APPOINTED TO BE IN CHARGE OF THE JULY 16TH CITY HALL DEDICATION
CEREMONIES AND TO HOST SAME. WE HAVE BUDGETED $2000.00 FOR THE
EVENT.
**KI I'I'EN HAJECATE MOVED THAT WE HOST THE CITY HALL DEDICATION
CEREMONIES ON JULY 16, 1995. LEO BRAUN SECONDED. MOTION PASSED.
JANIS LOWE REPORTED THAT THE HANGING OF THE CENTENNIAL
BANNERS HAS BEEN SUSPENDED ON FM518 BY STATE ORDER. THE STATE
DOES NOT WANT BLOCKAGE OF THAT HIGHWAY.
MARY ELLEN BELLARD AND HUBERTA MORA REPORTED ON THE
PROGRESS MADE IN GATHERING THE NAMES OF FRIENDSWOOD FAMILIES
TO BE INCLUDED IN THE INVITATION LIST FOR THE JULY 4TH FESTIVITIES
AND JULY 16TH BIRTHDAY AND CITY HALL DEDICATION CEREMONIES.
PHYLLIS LEE INFORMED THE COMMI r hE THAT WE WOULD BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF 60 GUESTS INVITED TO THE BREAKFAST AT
THE BROWN HOUSE BED AND BREAKFAST.
HUBERTA MORA REQUESTED THAT SEALS WITH THE LOGO IN BLACK AND
GOLD BE USED TO SEAL THE INVITATION ENVELOPES. IT WAS SUGGESTED
THAT WE GET BIDS NOT TO EXCEED$250.00 FOR THE SEALS.
**KITTEN HAJECATE MOVED, LEO BRAUN SECONDED TO GET SEALS MADE
IF THE COST DID NOT EXCEED$250.00. MOTION PASSED.
HUBERTA MORA PROPOSED THE CITY MOTTO "PROUD OF OUR PAST,
COMMITTED TO OUR FUTURE" BE ENGRAVED ON THE CURVED FRONTAL
ENTRY WAY TO THE CITY HALL WITH 1895 AND 1995 ON EACH SIDE
**HUBERTA MORA MOVED, PATSY RAUCH SECONDED THAT THE PROPOSAL
BE SENT TO THE CITY COUNCIL BY LE I"!ER. MOTION PASSED.
ACTIVITIES FOR THE JULY 4TH CELEBRATION WERE DISCUSSED. after THE
PARADE THERE WILL BE A HOSPITALITY TIME INSIDE CITY HALL STAFFED
BY THE COMMUNITY APPEARANCE BOARD. ED HARRIS IS IN CHARGE OF
THE CENTENNIAL BOOTH IN STEVENSON PARK. THE CENTENNIAL
COMMITTEE FLOAT WILL BE DESIGNED BY JAMS LOWE. PEOPLE TO RIDE
ON THE FLOAT WILL BE DECIDED ON AT A LATER TIME.
KITTEN HAJECATE REPORTED ON THE 4TH OF JULY STEERING
COMMITTEE'S REQUEST FOR THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE TO HELP WITH
DECORATIONS FOR THE STADIUM AND FOR FUNDS FOR SAME. IT WAS
DECIDED TO LOOK INTO HAVING FRIENDSWOOD FLAGS MADE TO HAND
OUT TO THE AUDIENCE AT THE STADIUM. THE COMMITTEE WILL ALSO
TAKE ON THE BICYCLE RIDE AS AN EVENT.
MOTION WAS MADE AND APPROVED FOR ADJOURNMENT AT 7:05 P.M.
