MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THAT WAS
HELD ON WEDEESDAY . JA.NUARY 184 i 95 AT 5: R0 PM AT UNIPLEX OFFICE
PARK , 1414 S . FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE , FRIENDSWOOD , TEXAS , WITH THE
FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:

CO-CHAIR JANIS LOWE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER .
**JANIS LOWE MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 9 , 1994
WITH MINOR CORRECTIONS NOTED .
SECONDED BY LEO BRAUN . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
PRESENTATION OF FINANCIAL _REPORT WAS MADE WITH DISCUSSION
REGARDING THE REVENUE FOR THE HISTORY BOOK WITH IS APPROXIMATELY
$36 , 500 . DISCUSSION WAS HELD TO REIMBURSE THE COST TO THE CITY ,
PAYMENT TO AUTHOR JOYCE BAKER AND THEN TRANSFER THE BOOKS TO THE
HERITAGE SOCIETY .
**ANN WOOD MOVED TO AUTHORIZE PAYMENT TO AUTHOR JOYCE BAKER AS
PER THE CONTRACT AND BASED UPON THIS FINANCE REPORT .
SECONDED BY HUBERTA MORA . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
**JANIS LOWE MOVED TO ACCEPT THE FINANCE REPORT AS PRESENTED .
SECONDED BY KITTEN HAJECATE . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL HISTORY BOOK . IT
WAS REPORTED THAT APPROXIMATELY 50 BOOKS HAVE NOT BEEN PICKED UP
WITH THE COMMITTEE DETERMINING A POST CARD WITH A DEADLINE FOR
PICK UP WILL BE SENT . A REPORT WAS MADE THAT JEM BOOKS ON FM 528
IS HANDLING THE BOOK WITHOUT A HANDLING CHARGE . DISCUSSION WAS
HELD TO HAVE A TABLE AT THE FAMILY OF THE YEAR AND THE CHAMBER
CENTENNIAL BALL TO DISPLAY AND TAKE BOOK ORDERS .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL STREET BANNERS WITH
THE BANNER COMMITTEE REPORTING SITES WERE LOOKED AT THAT MET
STATE STANDARDS AND WILL BE PLACED THROUGH OUT THE CITY . THE
AREAS THAT WILL HAVE A CONCENTRATION OF BANNERS WILL BE THE
FRIENDSWOOD CHURCH AND THE NEW CITY HALL SITE .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
"CENTENNIAL CRYSTAL BALL" TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 28 , 1995 . JANIS
ti LOWE REPORTED A VIDEO HAS BEEN PREPARED , SET TO MUSIC , SHOWING
OLD PICTURES WITH GRAPHICS ALONG WITH PICTURES OF CHAMBER
FUNCTIONS . MS . LOWE REQUESTED THE COMMITTEE TO AUTHORIZE FUNDING
FOR RENTAL OF DISPLAY SCREENS AND SOUND WITH THE COMMITTEE AND
THE CHAMBER TO SHARE THE COST. THE CHAMBER WILL COPY THE VIDEO
FOR RESALE TO OFFSET THEIR COST FOR THE SCREEN . DISCUSSION WAS
HELD REGARDING USING THE VIDEO AT OTHER FUNCTIONS SUCH AS THE
CITY HALL DEDICATION .
**MARY ELLEN BELLARD MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF $200 . 00 FOR A SCREEN
AND SOUND FOR THE CHAMBER CENTENNIAL BALL .
SECONDED BY JANIS LOWE . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING HOLDING THE NEW CITY HALL
DEDICATION ON JULY 16TH WHICH IS THE ACTUAL DATE FOR THE 100TH.
CO-CHAIR LEE REPORTED THE MAYOR URGED THE COMMITTEE TO HAVE A
CALENDAR AND DISCUSSION WAS HELD THAT NO ORGANIZATION WAS
INTERESTED IN DOING A CALENDAR .
MARY ELLEN BELLARD REPORTED ON THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY CENTENNIAL
LUNCHEON AND VINTAGE STYLE SHOW WHICH IS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 6 AT
11 : 30 A . M.
CO-CHAIR LEE REPORTED THE CLINE PRIMARY CENTENNIAL DAY WILL BE
FEBRUARY 3 FROM 10 : 30 TO 1 : 00 WHERE A CENTENNIAL BIRTHDAY CAKE
WILL BE PRESENTED .
CO-CHAIR LEE REPORTED "THE PROMISED LAND" WILL BE PRESENTED JUNE
30 AND JULY 1 AND ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE COMMITTEE FOR
PUBLICITY .
CO-CHAIR LOWE REPORTED SHE WILL BEGIN WORK ON GRADUATION DAY
FESTIVITIES .
KITTEN HAJECATE REPORTED AS 4TH OF JULY LIAISON , THAT POSSIBLY
SOME PORTIONS OF "THE PROMISED LAND" COULD BE PERFORMED FROM THE
GAZEBO , REPORTED THE 4TH OF JULY THEME IS THE CENTENNIAL THEME
"PROUD OF OUR PAST AND COMMITTED TO OUR FUTURE" . DISCUSSION WAS
HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL FUNCTION ON 4TH OF JULY AND
DISCUSSED A CHOIR SINGING PATRIOTIC SONG WITH A BIRTHDAY CAKE AND
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEING SANG BY ALL WITH CHILDREN RELEASING
BALLOONS , DISCUSSED A CENTENNIAL BIRTHDAY CAKE FLOAT . DISCUSSION
WAS HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE HOSTING THE
DIGNITARIES AND HONORED FAMILIES WITH HUBERTA MORA AND MARY ELLEN
BELLARD VOLUNTEERING TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT . DISCUSSION WAS
HELD REGARDING HAVING THE DIGNITARY BREAKFAST AT THE BROWN HOUSE
WITH SKY LYNN MINKOFF VOLUNTEERING TO HANDLING THE BREAKFAST .
JANIS LOWE STATED LEE WINGATE IS HANDLING DIGNITARIES FOR THE
PARADE AND WILL BE EASY TO COORDINATE RIDES FROM THE BROWN HOUSE
TO THE BAPTIST CHURCH FOR THE PARADE .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING SANCTIONING AWARD OF POSTERS AND
BOOK ' S FOR FAMILY OF THE YEAR EVENT WITH JANIS LOWE REPORTING
THERE WILL BE 34 NOMINATIONS WITH APPROXIMATELY 6 OR 7 WINNING
FAMILIES .
**JANIS LOWE MOVED FOR APPROVAL TO AWARD OF POSTER ' S TO THOSE
FAMILIES NOMINATED FOR FAMILY OF THE YEAR AND HISTORY BOOKS TO
ALL WINNING FAMILIES ON BEHALF OF THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE .
SECONDED BY ED HARRIS. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING A FOUNTAIN AT THE NEW CITY HALL
WITH PHYLLIS LEE REPORTING THE MAYOR HAS REQUESTED THE CENTENNIAL
COMMITTEE BE IN CHARGE OF RAISING FUNDS FOR THE FOUNTAIN BY
SELLING PAVERS WITH THE APPROXIMATE COST BEING $ 130 , 000 .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD WITH NO ACTION TAKEN THAT THIS PROJECT WOULD
BE MORE THAN THE COMMITTEE COULD HANDLE . JANIS LOWE STATED SHE
WOULD VOLUNTEER TO RESEARCH THIS FURTHER .
MOTION WAS MADE AND APPROVED FOR ADJOURNMENT WITH THE NEXT
MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY 7 , 1995 AT 5 : 30 PM.
