MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THAT WAS
HELD ON WEDNESDAY_, OCTQBER 12� 1444 AT PM AT UNIPLEX OFFICE
PARK , 1414 S . FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE , FRIENDSWOOD , TEXAS , WITH THE
FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:

ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WAS JANIS LOWE AND LAURIE WHITEHEAD .
CO-CHAIRMAN LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER .
A LENGTHY DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING CENTENNIAL STREET
BANNERS . LEO BRAUN REPORTED ON MEETING WITH CO-CHAIRMAN JANIS
LOWE AND DALE JONES WITH TEXAS NEW MEXICO TO DISCUSS BANNERS.
MR . BRAUN REPORTED IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THERE ARE 16 EXISTING
BRACKETS ON FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE . MR . BRAUN STATED THE COMMITTEE
WOULD RECOMMEND APPROXIMATELY 100 BANNERS AT AN APPROXIMATELY
COST OF $4 , 000 WITH BRACKET COST APPROXIMATELY $20 TO $35 . MR .
BRAUN REPORTED THE COMMITTEE HAD LOOKED AT BANNERS PRINTED ON ONE
SIDE WHICH WOULD BE THE TRAFFIC SIDE AND SHOULD LAST
APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS . DALE JONES WITH TEXAS NEW MEXICO POWER
COMPANY PRESENTED INFORMATION REGARDING PARTICIPATION BY TNP IN
HANGING THE BRACKETS AND BANNERS AT NO COST TO THE CITY .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING STAYING WITH THE BRACKET AND BANNER
SIZE CURRENTLY BEING USED BY THE COMMUNITY APPEARANCE BOARD FOR
HOLIDAY BANNERS IN ORDER THAT CAB CAN USE THE BRACKETS AFTER THE
CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION FOR ADDITIONAL HOLIDAY BANNERS . DISCUSSION
WAS HELD AS TO HOW MANY BANNERS TO HAVE , DESIGN OF THE BANNERS
AND WHERE TO HAVE THE BANNERS POSTED . THE MAJORITY OF THE
CENTENNIAL MEMBERS STATED THEY WOULD WANT THE BANNERS IN HARRIS
COUNTY AS WELL AS GALVESTON COUNTY .
**KITTEN HAJECATE MOVED TO APPROVE THE BANNER COMMITTEE PROCEED
WITH THE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE THE COMMITTEE PREPARE A BANNER
DESIGN FOR CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION USING EXISTING
BRACKET SIZE .
SECONDED BY MARY ELLEN BELLARD . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .

**CHARLES KIRKLIN MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 14,
1994 WITH CORRECTIONS NOTED .
SECONDED BY LEO BRAUN . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
**KITTEN HAJECATE MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF THE FINANCIAL REPORT
THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30 , 1994 AS PRESENTED .
SECONDED BY HUBERTA MORA. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING UPDATE ON COMMEMORATIVE POSTMARK .
POSTMASTER WASHINGTON WILL BE ON THE HERITAGE DAY PROGRAM AND
WILL HAVE STAFF AVAILABLE TO HAND CANCEL ENVELOPES AND BOOKS
DURING THE ENTIRE CELEBRATION .
MARY ELLEN BELLARD REPORTED ON THE HERITAGE DAY EVENTS AND
SUBMITTED A SCHEDULE AND PROGRAM. DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING
THE ENTERTAINMENT , STAGING , TABLE AND CHAIRS AND SIGNING TABLES
FOR ARTIST LAURIE WHITEHEAD AND AUTHOR JOYCE BAKER . HUBERTA MORA
REPORTED TWO DINNER TICKETS HAVE BEEN PRESENTED TO PASTOR JOE
ROHER AND HIS WIFE FOR HIS EMCEEING THE PROGRAM. ED HARRIS
STATED HE WOULD UNDERWRITE THE COST OF THE DINNER TICKETS .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE SALE OF POSTERS , PINS AND BOOKS
AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE PRE-SALE BOOKS DURING HERITAGE DAY .
MOTION MADE AND APPROVED FOR ADJOURNMENT AT 6 : 59 PM.
