FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE , FRIENDSWOOD , TEXAS , WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE CO-CHAIRMAN JANIS LOWE MEMBERS ED HARRIS KITTEN HAJECATE MARY ELLEN BELLARD HUBERTA MORA LAURIE WHITEHEAD LEON BRAUN JERRY SMITH HISTORY BOOK LIAISON JOYCE BAKER STAFF DELORIS MCKENZIE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WERE CHARLES KIRKLIN , PATSY RAUCH , AND ANN WOOD . CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER . BETSY MILLER GAVE A PRESENTATION ON CENTENNIAL COMMEMORATIVE POTTERY PIECES FOR CONSIDERATION . MINUiiS MINUTES OF JUNE 15 , 1994 WERE CORRECTED AND ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED . FINALIC11L RERQRT THE COMPUTER GENERATED FINANCE REPORT WAS ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE 1994/ 1995 BUDGET WITH $10 , 000 BEING ENCUMBERED AND $10 , 000 BUDGETED FOR THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION . BOOK SALES WERE REPORTED WITH 754 ORDERS BEING RECEIVED FOR THE PRE-SALES EVENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $24 , 204 . 19 WITH $427 . 50 FOR POSTAGE AND HANDLING. **KITTEN HAJECATE MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF REIMBURSEMENTS TO MEMBERS FOR EXPENSES FOR THE 4TH OF JULY BOOTH. SECONDED BY LAURIE WHITEHEAD . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . JERRY SMITH COMMENDED ED HARRIS ON A JOB WELL DONE ON THE 4TH OF JULY BOOTH AND PRE-SALES FOR THE HISTORY BOOK AND SALE OF POSTERS AND PINS ED HARRIS THANKED EVERYONE THAT HELPED WITH THE BOOTH , COMMENTED THE BOOTH WAS IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION AND STATED THE BOOTH AND THE SALE OF THE POSTERS , PINS AND HISTORY BOOK WAS A GROUP EFFORT. CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE WELCOMED NEW MEMBER LEO BRAUN TO THE MEETING. CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE REPORTED THE FRIENDSWOOD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HAS VOLUNTEERED THE JANUARY 1995 CHAMBER BANQUET TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE CENTENNIAL YEAR KICK-OFF BALL . KITTEN HAJECATE REPORTED THE 4TH OF JULY STEERING COMMITTEE IS READY TO BEGIN PLANNING FOR 1995 AND STATED DETERMINATION NEEDS TO BE MADE AS TO WHAT PORTION OF THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION SHOULD BE DEDICATED TO THE CENTENNIAL . CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE SUGGESTED A MEETING BE SCHEDULED WITH THE 4TH OF JULY COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE 4TH PLANS . CO-CHAIR JANIS LOWE SUGGESTED A RECOMMENDATION BE GIVEN TO THE STEERING COMMITTEE TO CHANGE THE ORDER OF THE NIGHT PROGRAM TO HAVE THE BAND FIRST, THEN PATRIOTIC SPEECHES AND THEME AND THEN THE FIREWORKS . HUBERTA MORA STATED THERE SHOULD BE MORE MUSIC IN THE PARADE . DISCUSSION WAS HELD THAT ALL ENTRY ' S IN THE PARADE COULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE MUSIC . **LAURIE WHITEHEAD MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF THE 1995 CHAMBER BANQUET BEING DESIGNATED AT THE OFFICIAL KICK-OFF CENTENNIAL BALL . SECONDED BY KITTEN HAJECATE. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . CO-CHAIRS PHYLLIS LEE AND JANIS LOWE WILL SERVE AS LIAISONS TO THE CHAMBER FOR THIS EVENT. CO-CHAIRS PHYLLIS LEE AND JANIS LOWE REPORTED ON THE DEDICATION OF THE ZUE BALES MIDDLE SCHOOL . A MEETING IS SET FOR NEXT MONDAY WITH THE NEW PRINCIPAL , DR . GARY CLAY , AND SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES. A REPORT WILL BE GIVEN AT THE NEXT CENTENNIAL MEETING. CO-CHAIR JANIS LOWE REPORTED ON A MAYORS WALL OF HONOR AT NEW CITY HALL . MS . LOWE REPORTED ON MEETING TODAY WITH THE CITY HALL COMMITTEE AND IT IS GENERALLY AGREED TO HAVE THE MAYORS WALL OF HONOR ON THE WALL INSIDE OF THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS . THE PORTRAITS WILL BE RE-CREATED IN SEPIA TONES WITH NEW UP-DATED FRAMES. FRIENDSWOOD FRAME AND GALLERY WILL PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE OF COST . MS . LOWE REPORTED THAT O 'FARRELL REALTY HAS EXPRESSED AN INTEREST IN ABSORBING THE COST OF THE MAYORS WALL OF HONOR IN CELEBRATION OF O ' FARRELL ' S ANNIVERSARY IN THE CITY . HUBERTA MORA SUGGESTED , AGAIN , THAT THE CLOCK PLANNED FOR THE NEW CITY HALL BE INSCRIBED WITH "WE ARE PROUD OF OUR PAST - COMMITTED TO OUR FUTURE. " CO-CHAIR LEE REPORTED ON MEETING WITH A POST OFFICE REPRESENTATIVE AND REPORTED A CANCELLATION STAMP MAY BE PLANNED BY SELECTING A DAY AND SELECTING A STAMP DESIGN AND THEN IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS TO IMPLEMENT . CO-CHAIR LEE REPORTED ONCE THE STAMP IS PRINTED , IT GOES INTO A BOOK AND SENT OUT ALL OVER THE STATE AND THEN MAY BE PURCHASED . LETTERS CAN BE SENT OR BROUGHT IN TO THE POST OFFICE AND BE HAND CANCELED. CO- CHAIR LEE REPORTED THE DATE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE LIMITED TO ONE DAY , THE COMMEMORATIVE STAMP COULD BE SCHEDULED TO BE ISSUED SEVERAL TIMES DURING 1995 . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING DETERMINING SIGNIFICANT DATES THAT COULD BE USED FOR THE COMMEMORATIVE STAMP . CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE APPOINTED JOYCE BAKER AND LAURIE WHITEHEAD TO LOOK AT DESIGNS AND SIGNIFICANT DATES. DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING HERITAGE DAY WITH HISTORY BOOK DISTRIBUTION AND SIGNING BY THE AUTHOR . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING HAVING A TENT SET UP , LOCATION , AND WAS DETERMINED DISCUSSION WOULD BE HELD WITH HISTORICAL SOCIETY PRESIDENT SKY LYNN MINKOFF REGARDING THESE MATTERS . **HUBERTA MORA RECOMMENDED UP TO $2 , 000 OF THE 1993/ 1994 BUDGET BE ENCUMBERED TO BE USED FOR HERITAGE DAY . SECONDED BY MARY ELLEN BELLARD . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . CO-CHAIR LOWE SUGGESTED THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE CONSIDER A CENTENNIAL FOUNTAIN WITH PAVING STONES BE PLANNED AT THE THE CITY HALL . THE PAVING STONES COULD BE SOLD AS A FUND RAISER FOR THE FOUNTAIN WITH THE STONES TO BE IMPRINTED WITH THE DONOR ' S NAME OR A SIGNIFICANT STATEMENT. DISCUSSION WAS HELD THAT A VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE MAY TAKE THIS ON AS A PROJECT FOR THE CENTENNIAL . THE NEXT MEETING WAS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 10 , 1994 . MOTION MADE AND APPROVED FOR ADJOURNMENT AT 6 : 50 PM.
