FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE , FRIENDSWOOD , TEXAS , WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE CO-CHAIR JANIS LOWE MEMBERS KITTEN HAJECATE MARY ELLEN BELLARD HUBERTA MORA LAURIE WHITEHEAD ANN WOOD JERRY SMITH ADVISORY MEMBER JOYCE BAKER STAFF DELORIS MCKENZIE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WERE ED HARRIS , CHARLES KIRKLIN , PATSY RAUCH AND LEO BRAUN. CO-CHAIR PHYLLIS LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER . **MOTION MADE BY JANIS LOWE FOR CORRECTION AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JULY 8 , 1994 . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . THE FINANCIAL REPORT WAS ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING PARTICIPATION IN THE DEDICATION OF THE ZUE S. BALES INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL . THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE WILL PARTICIPATE WITH HOSTING DUTIES AND MEMBERS WILL BE URGED TO WEAR THEIR OFFICIAL CENTENNIAL UNIFORMS . A DISCUSSION WAS HELD TO HAVE THE HISTORY OF ZUE S . BALES LIFE PRINTED ON CARD STOCK FOR THE COMMITTEE TO HAND OUT TO THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE DEDICATION CEREMONIES WITH AN ESTIMATED COST OF $100. 00 . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING A SUGGESTION BY DR . DAVID HEARN THAT LAURIE WHITEHEAD PAINT A MONTAGE PAINTING REPRESENTATIVE OF ZUE BALES OR HAVE ZUE BALES PAINTINGS OF RACOONS DUPLICATED OR RE-CREATED . CO-CHAIR LEE STATED SHE WOULD CONTACT DR . HEARN TO DISCUSS THIS SUGGESTION WITH HIM. **LAURIE WHITEHEAD MOVED FOR APPROVAL TO AUTHORIZE UP TO $100. 00 FOR PRINTING THE HISTORY OF ZUE BALES LIFE TO BE DISTRIBUTED BY MEMBERS OF THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE AT THE DEDICATION OF THE ZUE S. BALES INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL . SECONDED BY ANN WOOD . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION IN THE 4TH OF JULY EVENTS . CO-CHAIRS LEE AND LOWE WILL MEET WITH THE 4TH OF JULY STEERING COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS WHAT THE STEERING COMMITTEE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE SPONSOR . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE HAVING A 30 MINUTE PROGRAM AT THE NIGHT PROGRAM , CONSISTING OF A PAGEANT CHOREOGRAPHED WITH FIREWORKS AND A SHORT NARRATIVE ON THE HISTORY OF FRIENDSWOOD . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING UPDATE ON C MMERAT POST MARK WITH LAURIE WHITEHEAD AND JOYCE BAKER REPORTING THEY HAVE MET WITH POST OFFICE REPRESENTATIVES AND STATED POST MISTRESS, MS . WASHINGTON , WILL BE HAPPY TO ASSIST WITH THE PROJECT . THE POST OFFICE WILL HAND CANCEL ENVELOPES ON HERITAGE DAY AT THE MUSEUM. DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING HAVING THE COMMERATIVE POST MARK TWICE IN 1995 WITH THE FIRST POST MARK TO BE THE " 100TH" EMBLEM AND THE IMPRINT "A SETTLEMENT OF FRIENDLY FOLKS" UNDER THE DATE 1895 OF THE EMBLEM. THE SECOND POST MARK WOULD USE THE OFFICIAL LOGO WITH THE IMPRINT "FROM FIGS TO SPACE" WITH JULY 16 , 1895 TO JULY 16 , 1995 . LAURIE WHITEHEAD VOLUNTEERED TO WORK ON PREPARING THE TYPESET FOR THE STAMP . **ANN WOOD MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF THE COMMERATIVE POST MARK TO BE USED TWICE FOR THE CENTENNIAL YEAR . ► el lk•( 7/1 b1g5 SECONDED BY MARY ELLEN BELLARD . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING SETTING THE PRICE OF HISTORY BOOKS WITH THE PRE-SALES COMPLETED . **KITTEN HAJECATE MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF $37 . 00 PER HISTORY BOOK WHICH INCLUDES TAXES , AND SHIPPING AND HANDLING. SECONDED BY HUBERTA MORA. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING HERITAGE DAY EVENTS . MARY ELLEN BELLARD ADVISED THE ALVES PROPERTY , ADJACENT TO THE MUSEUM, IS NOT AVAILABLE TO SET UP A TENT FOR BOOK SIGNING , POSTER SALES , ANNOUNCEMENTS , ETC . HUBERTA MORA SUGGESTED SETTING UP THREE 20 X 20 TENTS ON THE MUSEUM PROPERTY , AND POSSIBLY USING THE GAZEBO FOR THE BOOK SIGNING AREA. MS . MORA AND MS. BELLARD WILL LOOK INTO THIS SUGGESTION . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING REQUESTING THE MAYOR TO CONTACT MS . ALVES FOR USE OF THE PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THE MUSEUM. DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE SCHEDULE OF CENTENNIAL EVENTS AND BUDGET AMOUNTS FOR EACH EVENT .
