FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE , FRIENDSWOOD , TEXAS , WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM: CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE CO-CHAIRMAN JANIS LOWE MEMBERS PATSY RAUCH ANN WOOD ED HARRIS CHARLES KIRKLIN JERRY SMITH LAURIE WHITEHEAD KITTEN HAJECATE ADVISORY MEMBER JOYCE BAKER STAFF DELORIS MCKENZIE ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WERE MARY ELLEN BELLARD , HUBERTA MORA, CAROLYN WRIGHT AND LEO BRAUN . CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER . MINUTES OF APRIL 13 , 1994 WERE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED THE £LNA1CIAL RERQRT WAS ACCEPTED AT PRESENTED . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING PRE-SALES OF THE HISTORY BOOK WITH CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE REPORTING THAT 477 BOOKS HAVE BEEN SOLD TODATE . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING "LAST PUSH" FOR PRE-SALES TO BE FOURTH OF JULY , WITH A BOOTH TO BE SET UP IN STEVENSON PARK . ED HARRIS REQUESTED VOLUNTEERS TO MAN THE BOOTH. DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING A BOOK SIGNING TO BE HELD ON HERITAGE DAY WITH AUTHOR JOYCE BAKER AVAILABLE TO PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPH HISTORY BOOKS . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING BUDGET FOR 94/95 WITH $20 , 000 TO BE BUDGETED FOR CENTENNIAL PLUS $5 , 000 FOR FOURTH OF JULY CENTENNIAL EVENTS WHICH WILL BE IN ADDITION TO THE $10 , 000 ENCUMBERED FROM THE 92/93 AND 93/94 BUDGETS . CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE REPORTED SHE HAS DISCUSSED WITH BENNIE KNIPPER A PRODUCTION ON "THE PROMISED LAND" AND STATED THE r)(1 CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE WILL NEED TO COMMIT FUNDING FOR THIS 1U PROJECT . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING COMMUNICATION WITH THE FOURTH OF JULY STEERING COMMITTEE TO BEGIN PLANNING FOR THE 1995 FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION . **LAURIE WHITEHEAD MOVED TO APPROVE ENTERING INTO NEGOTIATIONS WITH BENNIE KNIPPER TO PRODUCE A MUSICAL ON "THE PROMISED LAND" . SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER HAJECATE . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE REPORTED ON CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED FROM CAROLYN VILLAS RESIGNING FROM THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE . THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE REGRETFULLY ACCEPTED THIS RESIGNATION . CO-CHAIRMAN JANIS LOWE REPORTED ON THE QUOTES RECEIVED FROM PHOTOGRAPHERS FOR 11 x 14 SEPIA TONE PORTRAITS OF PAST MAYORS FOR A HONOR WALL AT THE NEW CITY HALL . FURTHER DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THIS PROJECT BEING SPONSORED BY THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE. m� e � DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING BETSY , A POTTER FROM POLLY RANCH, WHO HAS SUGGESTED SOME OMMERATIVE ITEMS FOR THE CENTENNIAL . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE FOURTH OF JULY BOOTH , ED HARRIS VOLUNTEERED TO CHAIR THIS PROJECT, THE BOOTH IS TO BE SET UP AND MANNED FROM 10 : 00 TO 4 : 00 , PHYLLIS LEE AND DELORIS MCKENZIE WILL HANDLE THE CASH PROCEEDS , DECORATIONS WILL BE HANDLED BY JANIS LOWE AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE , JERRY SMITH ' S BOOTH DISPLAY WILL BE USED , SANDWICH BOARDS FOR HAWKING WILL BE MADE AND WORN BY MEMBERS , THE BOOTH WILL SELL HISTORY BOOKS , POSTERS AND PINS . LAURIE WHITEHEAD VOLUNTEERED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR A PORTION OF THE DAY TO AUTOGRAPH THE POSTERS . FOR THE "ONE LAST PUSH" , ANN WOOD WILL ASK AREA CHURCHES TO PUBLISH IN THE JULY 3 BULLETINS AND JANIS LOWE WILL CONTACT THE NEWSPAPERS AND BUSINESSES WITH MARQUEES. CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE SUGGESTED AUTHOR JOYCE BAKER , ARTIST LAURIE WHITEHEAD , CARL MURRAY AND JOHN JOHNSTON RIDE IN THE 4TH OF JULY PARADE AS CENTENNIAL HONOREES . THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE WAS IN AGREEMENT WITH THIS PROPOSAL WITH JANIS LOWE TO PROVIDE A VEHICLE . CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE REPORTED SHE HAS NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM THE MAYOR REGARDING THE REQUEST FOR THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE TO SPONSOR THE DEDICATION OF THE NEW CITY HALL . CO-CHAIRS PHYLLIS LEE AND JANIS LOWE REPORTED THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE POST OFFICE ON A COMMERATIVE STAMP . THE NEXT MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 13 , AT 5 : 30 PM.
