MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THAT WAS
HELD ON THILRSDAY, OCTOBER 134_ 1493 AT 5 : U. PM AT UNIPLEX OFFICE
WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM :

ABSENT FROM THE MEETING WERE ANN WOOD , LAURIE WHITEHEAD AND PATSY
RAUCH.
CO-CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER .
SKY LYNN MINKHOFF , PRESIDENT OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY , PRESENTED
BROCHURES AND TICKETS FOR THE COMMITTEE TO SELL TO PROMOTE THE
HERITAGE DAY/CENTENNIAL EVENT.
MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 21 , 1993 WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED .
FINANCJAL REPORT WAS APPROVED AS PRESENTED .
PENNY HJAMS DISCUSSED THE POSSIBILITY OF DESIGNING AND SEWING
VESTS FOR THE COMMITTEE . THE COMMITTEE CONCURRED TO DO THIS AT A
LATER DATE AS THE VESTS COULD NOT BE READY IN TIME FOR HERITAGE
DAY .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE HISTORY BOOK AND CONTRACTING
WITH AUTHOR JOYCE BAKER . IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE COMMITTEE TO
ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MS . BAKER AND TO AUTHORIZE $2 . 00
ROYALTIES FOR EACH BOOK SOLD . MS . BAKER RESIGNED AS A VOTING
MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY ATTORNEY ' S
OPINION THAT IN ORDER TO CONTRACT WITH MS . BAKER , SHE WOULD BE
UNABLE TO SERVE AS A VOTING MEMBER BUT COULD SERVE AS A ADVISORY
MEMBER .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD THAT THIS PROVIDES FOR TWO VACANCIES ON THE
BOARD . JANIS LOWE SUGGESTED REPRESENTATIVES FROM FOREST BEND AND
WEDGEWOOD BE CONSIDERED . DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING LEO
BRAUN, BRUCE CLINE , JACK ROBERTS , JERRY SMITH , CARL SMITH AND
DAVID O ' FARRELL BE CONSIDERED .
**MOTION MADE BY JANIS LOWE TO RELUCTANTLY ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION
OF JOYCE BAKER AS A VOTING MEMBER .
SECONDED BY KITTEN HAJECATE . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY .
**MOTION MADE BY MARY ELLEN BELLARD TO AUTHORIZE JOYCE BAKER
SERVE AS A ADVISORY MEMBER AND SERVE AS LIAISON TO THE PUBLISHING
COMPANY .
SECONDED BY ED HARRIS . MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY . JOYCE BAKER
ABSTAINED .
PHYLLIS LEE REPORTED THE PINS HAVE BEEN ORDERED FROM IDENTITY AND
SHOULD BE SHIPPED WITHIN FOUR TO SIX WEEKS . MS. LEE REPORTED THE
COST WILL BE APPROXIMATELY $1 . 20 PER PIN .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE PINS WITH HUBERTA MORA STATING
SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE PINS SOLD AT A NOMINAL COST . MS . LEE
STATED THE COMMITTEE WOULD SET THE PRICE WITH THE PINS ARE
RECEIVED AND AN EXACT PRICE PER PIN IS DETERMINED . MS . LEE WILL
CHECK WITH IDENTITY AS TO HOW MANY LINES ARE AVAILABLE FOR
PRINTING ON THE CARDS THE PIN COMES ON.
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING HERITAGE DAY AND THE OFFICIAL
UNVEILING OF THE CENTENNIAL PAINTING WITH MARY ELLEN BELLARD
PRESENTING A WRITTEN SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY ' S EVENTS. DISCUSSION
WAS HELD REGARDING THE SCHEDULING OF THE BUS TOURS IN ORDER NOT
TO CONFLICT WITH THE SCHEDULED UNVEILING .
MR . KIRKLIN LEFT THE MEETING AT THIS TIME .
ED HARRIS VOLUNTEERED TO HELP WITH THE LATTICE WORK FROM LARY ' S
FLORIST AND WITH THE TABLE AND CHAIRS .
THE NEXT MEETING WAS SET FOR THE SECOND WEDNESDAY IN JANUARY AT
5 : 30 PM.
MOTION MADE AND APPROVED FOR ADJOURNMENT AT 7 : 00 PM.
