MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE MEETING THAT WAS
HELD ON NEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH, 1444 AT 5 R0 PM AT UNIPLEX
OFFICE PARK , 1414 S . FRIENDSWOOD DRIVE , FRIENDSWOOD , TEXAS ,
WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT CONSTITUTING A QUORUM:

CO-CHAIRMAN LEE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND REQUESTED KITTEN
HAJECATE TO SERVE AS ACTING SECRETARY .
MINUTES OF OCTOBER 12 , 1994 WERE CORRECTED AND APPROVED AS
PRESENTED .
THE FINANCIAL REPORT WAS PRESENTED , DISCUSSED AND APPROVED AS
PRESENTED . DISCUSSION WAS HELD THAT THERE IS APPROXIMATELY $5 , 000
IN BOOK SALES TO DATE .
OLD BUSYNESS
**PATSY RAUCH MOVED TO APPROVE PAYMENT OF $200 TO MARY QUEEN
CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR HERITAGE DAY EVENT WITH THE HERITAGE SOCIETY
BEING ASKED TO SHARE IN THE COST .
SECONDED BY LAURIE WHITEHEAD . MOTION APPROVED .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING UPDATE ON CENTENNIAL HISTORY BOOK
WITH DISCUSSION ON POLICY FOR COMPLIMENTARY BOOKS . IT WAS
DETERMINED THAT COMPLIMENTARY BOOKS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THE CITIES
OF ALVIN , PEARLAND , LEAGUE CITY , AND WEBSTER AND THREE BOOKS HAVE
BEEN PRESENTED TO THE STATE HISTORICAL COMMISSION . DISCUSSION
WAS HELD TO PROVIDE COMPLIMENTARY BOOKS FOR SPECIAL FUNCTIONS OR
EVENTS .
NEW BUSINESS
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING CENTENNIAL STREET BANNERS WITH CO-
CHAIRMAN PHYLLIS LEE PRESENTING A PROPOSAL TO PURCHASE 50 TWO
SIDED BANNERS AND BRACKETS WHICH WILL REPLACE THE OLD BRACKETS .
THE BANNERS WOULD BE RED , WHITE , AND BLUE WITH AND WITH "FOUNDED
IN 1895" , COST WOULD BE $52 . 00 PER BANNER , AND COST FOR BRACKET
WILL BE $57 . 00 .
**LAURIE MOVED FOR APPROVAL FOR PURCHASE OF THE STREET BANNERS
AND BRACKETS .
SECONDED BY ANN WOOD . MOTION APPROVED .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING SANCTION OF FRIENDSWOOD FRAME AND
GALLERY ART SALE ON DECEMBER 3 1994 , COMMEMORATING THE CENTENNIAL
PAINTING WITH PINS , BOOKS , AND POSTERS BEING FEATURED . JOE
PRIHODA WILL HAVE EXAMPLES OF FRAME WORK AVAILABLE FOR THE
POSTERS . IT WAS DETERMINED THE CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE WOULD NEED TO
MAN TWO TABLES FROM 9 : 30 TO 5 : 00 TO SELL THE CENTENNIAL ITEMS
WITH PHYLLIS LEE , ANN WOOD , AND MARY ELLEN BELLARD VOLUNTEERING
TO WORK .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE SALE OF HISTORY BOOKS AT TEXAS
COMMERCE BANK ON SATURDAY , NOVEMBER 26 , 1994 .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE NEED TO ADVERTISE THE
CENTENNIAL EVENTS WITH JANIS LOWE AND ANN WOOD VOLUNTEERING FOR
THIS PROJECT .
DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
"CENTENNIAL" KICK OFF BALL TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 28 , 1995 . THE
INVITATIONS SHOULD GO OUT BY THE END OF THE YEAR . EVERYONE IS
ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND .
THE CHAMBER HAS ENJOYED THE HISTORY BOOKS BEING PICKED UP AT THE
CHAMBER BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE DISCOVERED THE CHAMBER .
THE REPORTER NEWS HAS STARTED RUNNING EXCERPTS FROM THE HISTORY
BOOKS AND WILL RUN AN ARTICLE FOR THE NEXT TEN WEEKS .
