A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
TEXAS, RATIFYING AND APPROVING THE CITY'S APPLICATION TO THE
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR FOR THE FY2023-2024 STATE HOMELAND
SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE THOUSAND
THREE HUNDRED AND NO/lOO DOLLARS ($3,300.00) TO FUND THE
PURCHASE OF MOBILE FINGERPRINT READERS TO BE USED BY PATROL
DIVISION TO COLLECT THE FINGERPRINT OF POTENTIAL INDIVIDUALS ON
TRAFFIC STOPS, ACTIVE SCENES, OR AT CRIME SCENES TO ASCERTAIN
POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION AND POTENTIAL WARRANT STATUS;
AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY GRANT
AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor sought proposals from local governments and other
eligible project sponsors for the FY2023-24 State Homeland Security Grant Program ("SHSP "); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of SHSP is to support state and local efforts to enhance our
national resilience to absorb disruptions and rapidly recover fi-om incidents both natural and
manmade as well as to implement the goals and objectives included in the state's homeland security
strategies and initiatives; and
WHEREAS, on January 9, 2023, the City of Friendswood submitted a grant application
to Office of the Governor for the FY2023-2024 State Homeland Security Grant Program in the
amount of THREE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND NO/lOO DOLLARS ($3,300.00)
to fund the purchase of Mobile Fingerprint Readers to be used by patrol division to collect the
fingerprint of potential indi viduals on traffic stops, active scenes, or at crime scenes to ascertain
positive identification and potential warrant status; and
WHEREAS, the requested funding will be used to purchase the aforementioned Mobile
Fingerprint Readers; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD,
STATE OF TEXAS:
That the City Council of the City of Friendswood, hereby ratifies and approves
the application submitted to the Office of the Governor for the FY2023-2024 State Homeland Security
Grant Program in the amount of THREE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($3,300.00) to fund the purchase of Mobile Fingerprint Readers to be used by patrol division to collect
the fingerprint of potential individuals on traffic stops, active scenes, or at crime scenes to ascertain
positive identification and potential warrant status.
