HomeMy WebLinkAboutFourth of July Steering Committee Minutes 2010-04-21 4th OF JULY STEERING COMMITTEE APRIL 21, 2010 MINUTES A regular meeting of the Fourth of July Steering Committee was held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at City Hall, located at 910 S Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, at which time the following subject will be considered. The following members and staff were present at the meeting: Chris Scarpa Michelle Scarpa Corey Kirkland Skip Redding Robin Hall Tony Scarpa Craig Kovacevich Stacy Scarpa Stefanie Karacostas Director of Community Services: James Toney Staff: Kimberly Ramirez Mike Jones, FISD Transportation 1. Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 7:16 p.m. 2. Communications from the public: Mike Jones informed that the high school location is not available for shuttle service. James Toney stated that FCC and Clear Brook will be the shuttle locations this year. Mr. Jones stated that he should have plenty of drivers for the 4th of July evening program shuttle service. He is planning on getting 25 drivers. Corey Kirkland stated that the last time the 4th of July fell on a Sunday night, the crowd was larger than normal. 3. Discussion and possible action regarding March 24, 2010 minutes: Stacy Scarpa made a motion to approve the March 24, 2010 minutes, Chris Scarpa second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding the 2010, 4th of July Celebration. A. Parade: James Toney stated that NASA has confirmed that they have received our request but will give the city confirmation in the near future. James Toney stated that their should not be any problems with the drainage construction that is now in the process on the FM518 medians for the next few months. James Toney stated that Lucy Woltz is taking care of the float for the grand Marshall. Corey Kirkland questioned if we should have green gators to keep with the “green” theme and he will order gators from a John Deer distributor. B. Day Program: Skip Redding stated that the dignitary breakfast will have made to order omelets, with fresh produce to go with the “green” theme. The Zydeco Dots and the Party Animals have been confirmed for the day program. Board suggested having the trophy award ceremony earlier and possibly creating a sign to advertise the time line to the public. C. Evening: Corey Kirkland stated the Dan Morgan has 3 proposals for sound groups, James Toney stated that the need for fencing hasn’t been confirmed. Remax has been confirmed, portable toilets have been confirmed, and Alpha Lee stated that he can put the sponsors in lights for the fireworks show. The gathering will be on Saturday the 3rd. 5.
