Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:46 pm 2. Communications from the public: NA 3. Discussion and possible action regarding May 15, 2013 minutes: Michelle made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected, Chris Scarpa second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding the 2013, 4th of July Celebration A. Dignitary Breakfast: Kimberly Ramirez informed the group that Chick Fila is still on board with sponsoring the breakfast, bringing the Chick Fila Cow and Dunn Bros will be providing the coffee for the event. B. Parade: Stacy stated that we need to make sure we have the directionally signs for the parade and is planning on sending emails out to parade participants earlier this year. So far we have 27 parade entries. James stated we have a parade participant with a large entry as far as length and height, he suggested staging him on Heritage or near Woodlawn, the committee agreed. C. Day: James stated that we're getting the singers for the day program from the Concert in the Park, karaoke night; he also stated Tom Goodwin’s daughter might be interested in performing along with Larry Taylor’s daughter. James stated all signs, generators; popup tent will be set up that morning by our parks crew for the event. Staff suggested nixing the day entertainment due to the heat and inviting more singers from the Karaoke night. James stated that we’re having BMW stage their cars on the drive and will be checking in Fox 26 News in still on board to emcee the day event. D. Evening: Kimberly informed the committee that David Weekly has committed to sponsor the skydivers. James stated we will have the flyover for the evening program as well. James suggested inviting a local church clergy member to do the invocation. Tony stated he will find a person to do the invocation. James stated that the amusement rides will be staged back field along the fence line. Drew informed the committee that 92 FM approached us to be the media sponsor for the evening program and will advertise the event on air. The PSA cost around $1,000 and they will provide this service for free. James stated we will write the script and will not include the word “sponsor" in the PSA but will send out to the committee before sending final script to 92FM. FFA will be selling BBQ plates for the evening program. Kimberly informed the group that chick Fila will provide food for committee, as well as Scott Gordon providing food for the committee and the band. Lighthouse will provide the trailer for the band and Texas Solar Resources will provide a LED light trailer for the evening program. Corey made a motion to award the Evelyn Newman Award to Paulette Jeter and Benny Baker with the Gathering Committee and the Knights of Columbus for the Mora Spirit award, Stacy Scarpa second the motion and it passed unanimously. Tommy informed James to make sure the park is sprayed for ants and that the picnic tables are moved in Stevenson Park before the event. Next meeting scheduled on June 26th at 7pm in City Hall. 5.
