1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:13pm.
2. Communications from the public/committee liaisons: Judy DeAlejandro, a
former committee member is attending the meeting tonight. Mike Jones with
FISD Transportation stated that he had 22 drivers last year, it depends on what
time of week the event is scheduled on the number of drivers we will have
available. Committee stated we're going back to the high schools, not the
church. Tony stated that we're going to try to fill a 3rd bus to keep the buses
moving this year. Michael stated the big thing is depending on how many
drivers will be working that day, and possibly giving the drivers an incentive like a
family entertainment pack to the day program. Mike stated that he would like
the area for the lift bus open so it’s easy for them to pull in that area. Mike stated
that he informs the drivers in May the opportunity to work the 4th of July event.
Committee suggested having signage at the schools and displaying the time
the last bus leaves to Centennial. James Toney stated to offer bus drivers food.
Also make sure to publicize the change of when the buses will stop picking up at
the schools before the fireworks start. Mike will announce look for drivers on the
2nd Wednesday of May.
3. Discussion and possible action regarding February 20, 2013 minutes:
Stacy made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Stefanie second
the motion and the motion was approved unanimously.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding the 2013 4th of July celebration
A. Parade: Drew stated applications are out and have been sent out thru
group builder. Drew asked if a Kawasaki mule could be in the parade. James
Toney stated he wanted to be cautious on what we accept in the parade.
James Toney will talk to PD on the rules and revise the application and add a
tab to the website. Drew stated that all the mayors have rsvp’d to the invites.
B. Day Program: James stated we’re waiting for confirmation from the Zydeco
Dots for the day program. James stated Awesome Events hasn’t confirmed yet
but will follow up next week. Kimberly stated that FAA has confirmed to sell
lunch plates at the day program. Party Animals will plug in at the pavilion, will
need to check power at the pavilion before event. Michele suggested charging
booth vendors $80 for use of the generator and electricity.
James stated that FOX 26 news wills emcee the day program and we will get
her the information. We will need to find 4 groups to entertain during the day
program.
C. Evening Program: James Toney stated that the band, sound & lighting, the
stage, flyover, fireworks, portable toilets, and the food sponsor have been
confirmed. David Smith will be the emcee for the evening program.
5. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 pm.
