HomeMy WebLinkAboutFourth of July Steering Committee Minutes 2009-05-20 May 20, 2009 Fourth of July Steering Committee Minutes A regular meeting of the Fourth of July Steering Committee was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Centennial Park, located at 2200 S Friendswood, Friendswood, TX 77546, at which time the following subject will be considered. The following members and staff were present at the meeting: Corey Kirkland Darrell Fales Ken Turner Tony Scarpa Chris Scarpa Stefanie Scarpa Craig Kovacevich Michelle Scarpa Tommy McDonald Renae Rives Dan Morgan Rachael Williams, visitor Mike Jones, FISD Transportation James Toney, Director of Community Services Kim Ramirez, staff Josh Rogers, PD Jim Barr, Council Liaison 1. Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 6:28 p.m. 2. Communications from the public: NA 3. Minutes: Ken Turner made a motion to pass the April 22, minutes as corrected, Renae Rives second the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding the 2009, 4th of July Celebration: A. Parade: Map will be completed this weekend. Friendswood Baptist Church will let the dignitaries and committee members have use of their restroom facilities. Committee needs to go after the event is over and make sure the restrooms are clean. Ken Turner will talk with NASA and will see if they can do a flyover for the parade. B. Day Program: Tommy McDonald will get with Nicole Morgan to obtain the layout of the park for the day program. Tommy will also get Plan B for the back of City Hall in case it rains. Party Animals has confirmed to be entertainment for the day program for the amount of $2700.00. Committee still needs 2 singers for the day program. James Toney will check with Haley Holtje to see if she is available to sing at the day program. James Toney still needs to talk to Daycare on Shadwell regarding taking their float back to their property. Florenence needs a letter letting her know we will be having the 4th of July event. Lansdowne Moody will donate the gators. C. Evening: During the evening program, rope will be used with stakes instead of fencing this year. Interstate Barricade needs to be contacted, need to get generators. Confirmed with Alpha Lee, they sent the insurance to the city. James Toney will meet with Fire Marshall on Tuesday to go over issues w/Friendswood High School. Darrell Fales is working on Stefano’s for providing food for the band that night. Committee voted on Mora Spirit award. 5. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Approved by: Kimberly Ramirez Date: 6-10-09 __________
